Sadly, Mario Savio's death overtook our comments about his illness.
We remained optimistic that things could always be changed for the
better. Now that he is gone from this world--leaving it with the
trumpets of a marvelous NPR story on his passing--we can still
believe in what he fought for.

Please send my feeling of saddness for the loss of Mario to his family, too. I
knew his brother when he was a graduate student at the University of Florida in
the middle sixties. Mario's bro is a fine person, too.
