SIXTIES-L is moderated by a group of six volunteers: Peter Felten, Steve
Gomes, Leah Hackleman, Rebecca Jackson, Bo Jacobs, and me, Kali Tal. Due to
other obligations, Peter Felten will be stepping down as moderator this
summer (though we hope he will be able to rejoin us in the fall). Steve and
I will be out of town for much of June and July. So it's once again time to
ask if there are SIXTIES-L subscribers who are interested in becoming
moderators.
To become a SIXTIES-L moderator, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Have reliable access to an Internet account with telnet capacity;
2. Be willing to volunteer to moderate 1-2 days per week on a regular
schedule (a time commitment of 1-2 hours each day you moderate);
3. Be comfortable with the list parameters as described in the "Intro to
SIXTIES-L" mailed to you when you subscribed, and available on the
Web at:
http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/sixties/SIXTIES-L_entry.html
4. Have a very long fuse. It's crucial that moderators be able to handle
potentially explosive situations with common sense, kindness, and tact.
5. Not be afraid to say no. One of the jobs of moderators is rejecting
inappropriate posts, and each moderator who rejects a post is required
to write a (usually short) explanation of the rejection to the poster,
referring to the SIXTIES-L parameters.
6. Be able to combine confidence in your independent good judgement with the
sense to confer with other moderators over particularly difficult or
important decisions.
If you feel you fit this description, please contact me. We'd love to have
you join our team.
Best,
Kali
