As a sixties person whose "drug" of choice was a six pack of beer every
now and then, I wonder about two questions:

1) Are there any statistics, reliable or not, which indicate the level of
drug use among "progressive people" in the 1960s. (Here I assume beer is not
a drug but rather a friend).

2) How can we account for what seems to be the current (and past) identifica-
tion of "progessives" with drug use? Something beyond simply and superficially
blaming "THE MEDIA"?
