Subject: Press bias and the Vietnam War

I am a student at Tulane University. I am working on a topic for a paper
that is due at the end of the semester. I have a few thoughts as to what I
want to write about. I want to talk about the feelings of the veterans
that served in Vietnam in regards to the press. I also want to hear from
the media on how they viewed their role in Vietnam. I am looking to use
the accounts that I get back in my paper.

I have put together a few questions on the type of things that I think
that I need for this paper. I would really appreciate if this post was
circulated around the net. I really do not know where all of the places
that might help the most are located, so hopefully this will get passed
around. I understand that people may not want their responses made
public in my paper. I will understand as will my professor if someone
would rather me not use their name.

Here are some of the questions. If you have any additional comments
that might help please free to include whatever you want.

My e-mail address is rtafaro@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu

What was the role of the press corps during the Vietnam War?

Why were we in Vietnam?

Do you think that we should have been in Vietnam and why?

Do you agree or disagree with the policy of containment and
why/whynot?

Did you support the troops while they were in Vietnam? (why/why
not)

Did the pictures on the national news and other publications
influence your opinion of the Vietnam war?

What do you remember the most about the Vietnam war or the time
period of the Vietnam war?

Do you feel that there was a difference between print and Tv
journalism and what is that difference?

Would you have been in favor of a press ban for the Vietnam war,
similar to the one for Grenada? Why or why not?

Did you believe everything you saw and herd about the war?

Do you think that a journalists personal values show up and or
get in the way of their reporting?

Do you think that Bosnia is another Vietnam? Why or why not?

I hope that these questions are not too personal. Please feel free to
add anything that you would like. If you want to pass it around, that
would be great!!!

thanks so much,

Robert Tafaro
