"A community is not a community of disembodied spoken statements, in part
because the most important aspect of the communication that people have is
emotional, and one often communicates emotion not in terms of the text but
as a subtext. The physical body is not irrelevant to a human community. The
emotional subtext of human communication is crucial to human thought. It
isn't a footnote. Too many computer scientists don't understand this."

Subject: 2002 Sun Matching Grant program
---Please forward as appropriate---
Sun Microsystems has a long history of working closely with higher
education institutions. In a collaborative effort, Sun is prepared to
make a significant investment in academic and/or research lab
environments that are used by students at educational institutions. This
investment will be in the form of matching grants for desktop and server
equipment used in student academic or research laboratories. Sun invites
the U. S. educational institutions to apply for this matching grant
(please see attached pages for more details).
The matching grant period is from February 1 to April 19, 2002, however,
these matching grants are limited and will be processed on a first-come,
first-served basis.
In addition to this program Sun's ScholarPAC program offers low cost and
no cost software licensing to educational institutions
(http://www.sun.com/edu/scholar).
If you are interested in having your educational institution take
advantage of this, please access our website at
http://www.sun.com/edu/matchinggrant as soon as possible. We look
forward to the opportunity to work with you in the coming months and
encourage you to take advantage of this matching grant program.
Warm regards,
-Cole Clark
