Philosopher and textual theorist Claus Huitfeldt will speak tomorrow on
his new book, _Texts and Text Encoding_, at 3:00 in Alderman Library.
Huitfeldt is director of the Humanities Information Technologies Research
Programme and the Wittgenstein Archives at the University of Bergen,
Norway. His book treats the concept of text, text encoding and textual
criticism, musical philology, and the representation and interpretation of
text in relation to research issues in the humanities.
This informal talk will be held in the offices of IATH, the Institute for
Advanced Technology in the Humanities, on the 3rd floor of Alderman
Library. All are welcome to attend.
And a reminder: the final panel of the Humanities Computing Seminar's
spring series, "Research and Digital Media" will be held tomorrow in
Clemons 201 at noon. Join Matt Kirschenbaum, John Dobbins, and John
Unsworth for a lively and enlightening discussion of research in new
media. (See http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/hcs/spring.html for
