Folks,

You have probably long since given up on ever seeing the Electronic
Textual Editing volume, but I am writing to say that, like
Frankenstein, it lives. The MLA reviewers have had it for the summer,
and I anticipate their comments in the next couple of weeks. At that
point, Lou and Katherine and I will go through the comments and decide
which we think we should respond to, and we'll ask you to make any
revisions implicated in that decision. We'll be trying to get those
revisions back before the MLA publications committee meets in early
November, so that we can present them with what we think is the final
version, incorporating suggestions from reviewers. At that point, I
think they vote up or down (though we may encounter further
suggestions...) and it goes into production. All involved anticipate
that MLA will publish it, but of course, this isn't a certainty until
the committee makes that recommendation.

Meanwhile, if you would think again about whether you have sample
texts, or images, or stylesheets, or other bits that you would like
included on the companion CD, I'd be grateful. Any such things should
be sent to Lou Burnard (cc'd, above).

Thanks for your patience,

John
