I have to agree with carter.
Reading The Mezzanine was not just painful, but more of a tooth-grinding
agony. I could not sleep until I had finished the book, feeling I might
go mad if I didn't reach the part where he bought his shoelaces. It is a
hugely original text, but although I enjoyed the descriptions at first, it
quickly became tiresome. I wanted something more. it's full of the kind
of pointless things we think about every day, and on one level it is
brilliant, on another we DON'T remember most of the stuff that's going
through our heads precisely cos it is so pointless. So why write a book
about it.
Cath.
