Hi everyone,

I'm enjoying The Mezzanine quite a bit. I like the way that "the things we
don't think about are thought about." The descriptions are so vivid, I can
actually remember a time when I was trying to drink soda through a straw
without putting down my slice of pizza or losing the line of the book I was
reading.

Another thing that's interesting (at least to me) is that I feel like I'm
reading a hypertext. Following a footnote reminds me of taking a random
link from a web page. I don't know whether I should keep following the
footnote and turn the page, or wait until I've read far enough through the
main story until I turn the page to see what comes next. If I keep reading
the footnote, by the time I flip back to where I was in the story, it takes
me a second to remember what was going on when I strayed. It's like
hitting the back button on my browser until I find the page I was reading
to begin with. At times, I find it a little frustrating, but overall, I
think it's pretty cool.
