A number of people have been asking for extensions; rather than adjudicate
these on a case-by-case basis, I'm just going to say (wait, I'm saying it
now) that you can take one late assignment, at your discretion, without
explaining why. Here's how it works:
--If you MUST, you may hand in one assignment (short paper, take-home midterm,
long paper) late.
--I don't want to know why.
--the permitted late assignment will be due *exactly* a week after the
original due date.
--I will keep track of who has used up this option, and once you've used it,
no excuse will be good enough: you will be docked a half grade for each
day (including weekend days) that the paper is late.
Reserve Materials:
I placed a couple of books and one essay on reserve--essays on White Noise,
a book on DeLillo and the systems novel (called In the Loop), and the essay
on Derrida and Smolensky (and connectionism) I mentioned in connection with
Galatea 2.2
