Hey all:

(I'll save my defense of the SOLAR site for class.)

-Page 1 looks great. I love the logo background. Bob had tried to do
something like that for the SOLAR site but it didn't work out. This is
minor but you'll probably want to change the title of the page to something
more like "Virginia Foundation for the Humanities" as opposed to "vfh home:
page1" since that is what people will be seeing as the title of the site
they're linking to. I don't know what everyone is talking about that main
image taking forever - it loads instantly for me. It's black and white it
can't take that long.

-Page 2 - I like the table structure very much. I wasn't thrilled by some
of the icons you were using for some of the links but since I think you've
changed some of them in the last 24 hours perhaps you aren't thrilled
either. I think the main issue is that if some of the icon images directly
relate to the page they're linking to then all the images must.

-resource catalog - nice wrapping of text around image but I think the
structure of the table of contents can be presented in a more clear and
visually appealing way.

-festival of the book - I don't know what the plans are for this page but
the image on the left hand side doesn't work the way it is now. The
animated book is pretty sweet though.

-general comments - great images in the substantive pages. If you do have
long pages as is the case with your site it might be helpful to the user to
have "return to top" or similar links to make navigating easier. Great
color scheme as well.

Nice job overall. I'm impressed.

Dan
