You may or may not know that there is another HUMANIST list,
run by freethinkers out of atheist.tamu.edu.

This request from Fred Edwords may be answered by the
academic computing humanists, to which I also belong.

Subject: Lucian

I've been searching all over the WWW for an electronic text of any
English translation of a work by Lucian of Samosata. Lucian, you may
know, was a satirist and freethinker who lived in the Roman Empire at
the time of Marcus Aurelius. The work of his I'm momentarily interested
in is his "A True Story," sometimes called "A True History." I think
its Latin name is "Verite Historae" though it is written in Greek.

Since you are active on HUMANIST-L, the list of those involved in the
humanities, I wonder if you could see if anybody there knows of an
e-text of this work. They can e-mail their response to me direct
at ap818@freenet.buffalo.edu

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks.
