Subject: Position Announcement
The Department of Classics at the University of California at Irvine
recently announced an opening that was necessitated by the departure from
UCI of the TLG's Assistant Director. Since several applications for this
position have been submitted directly to the TLG, I would like to reiterate
that all applications should be submitted to the Department of Classics.
The text of the original posting (which contains the address to be used
for applications) follows below.
The University of California, Irvine, announces a tenure-track position in
Classics. The individual recruited for the position will be appointed
full-time in the Department of Classics, and will be released from teaching
responsibilities at least 50% time to be Assistant Director of UCI's
Thesaurus Linguae Graecae, with the expectation that the appointee will
ultimately assume the directorship of the TLG. Qualifications: Ph.D. in
Classics with an emphasis in Greek. Expertise in computer application to
Classical literature, as well as in computer hardware, software, and
systems, is highly desirable. The specific level at which the individual
will be appointed will correspond to the candidate's qualifications,
background, and experience. Letters of application should be submitted to
the chair of the search committee, Professor Patrick Sinclair, Department
of Classics, University of California, Irvine, CA 92717-2000. Application
deadline: December 15, 1995. Members of the UCI Classics department and of
the TLG will be available at the San Diego APA meeting for interviews. UCI
