>>> Subject: TUSCUMBIA?
>>> Hello evrybody. Recently I watched a movie of "A Miracle Worker"
>>> showing the story of Hellen Keller and Anne Sullivan, and I was very
>>> impressed how the language ignites the humanity, or vice versa.
>>>
>>> I have the following question. Could someone please answer to me?
>>>
>>> In the movie, it was a name of place (a train station), TUSCUMBIA
>>> where the Kellers were living. I have checked the name in my AAA Travel
>>> Guide Book, but I couldn't find. Where is it? Is there a musium to
>>> commemorate her life? If so, where? I would like to visit it in this
>>> summer vacation, if possible.
>>
>>Yes, Tuscumbia,a. where Keller was born, is in northwest Alabama. I haven't
>>been to the birthplace, but I have seen a brochure about it and know that
>>there is a kind of museum, or at least the house itself, there.
>>
>>Tuscumbia is in a pretty part of the state, near the Tennessee River and
>>lots of lakes and inlets. You might consider making the lodge at Joe
>>Wheeler State Park your home base if you want to vacation there. Rooms in
>>the lodge are very reasonable, all with a view of a lake. There are also
>>cabins in the park for rent also. Joe Wheeler State Park is at, or very
>>near, Rogersville, Alabama. You could request brochures from the chambers
>>of commerce at Rogersville, Tuscumbia, Florence, Muscle Shoals, or
>>Sheffield, all in Alabama. Gerald Walton, University of Mississippi

In HUMANIST 8.0052, Paul Brians asks for Internet discussions of
Rhetoric. There are several, spanning rhetorical studies in
English and in Speech, as well as some that are broadly cross-
disciplinary.
For a general list that includes rhetorical studies along with
communication studies generally, try CRTNET@PSUVM.PSU.EDU.
A recently initiated list on the history of rhetoric is
H-RHETOR@UICVM.BITNET. You might also try RHETORIC@RPIECS
These lists should quickly lead you to others.
