Vacancy Notice
POSITION: Humanities Bibliographer
RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates and develops subject collections in
the humanities, monitoring allocated funds, continuing commitments
and approval plans. Serves as liaison to faculty and students in
departments of Classics, German, English, Philosophy, Art, Music,
and Judaic Studies, providing in-depth bibliographic instruction,
assistance in use of electronic sources, and specialized reference
for them. Also provides general reference services during assigned
hours, including some evenings and weekends. Reports to Assistant
Director for Collection Development. Research, publication and
service to the Libraries and University are expected to satisfy
criteria for continuing appointment and promotion.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from an ALA accredited library school.
Masters degree in English, German, or Philosophy or a minimum of three
years' experience as a Humanities Librarian at an academic/research library.
Reading knowledge of German. Preference will be given to candidates with
demonstrated experience in use of electronic resources.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience. Minimum $30,000.00.
TERMS & BENEFITS: Twelve month appointment; sick leave and annual
leave @ 1.25 days each per month; health insurance, major medical or
Health Maintenance Organization and dental. Social Security coverage.
TIAA/CREF or New York State Teachers Retirement available (employee
contribution rate = 3%).
