Subject: COMPUTERWORLD Article on computers in the humanities
I just saw an article in the Feb. 1, 1993, issue of _ComputerWorld_
entitled "Technohumanities 101." It mentions William Wulf, a CS
professor at the University of Virginia (and the new Institute for
Advanced Technology in the Humanities at UVA); Edward Ayers, professor
of history at UVA; and Jerome McGann, UVA professor of English; and
James O'Donnell at the Center for the Computer Analysis of Texts at
the University of Pennsylvania.
There's also a box describing the need for SGML and the notice that
WordPerfect will "introduce a conversion program that will convert
text files into SGML format in accordance with industry-standard or
user defined rules" later this year.
