Admittedly, computer formats change all the time, which is why I
stipulate a hard copy (i.e., a printout) be maintained by the author.
I agree that this limits the "shelf life" of the studt to the "shelf
life" of the author, unless some standard scheme were worked out, such
as transferring the files involved to University archives or records. I
still think that this would make the references more accessible than
leaving them here; the VAST majority of people don't have accounts, and
few that do know about LISTSERVs or their capabilities.
