Subject: note for Humanist
In response to the request for computer in various languages:
Chinese is dian (1st tone) nao (3rd tone). The first character
is the word for electric power and is used in various compounds
such as the word for movies. The second character is the word
for brain, e.g. the part of your body inside your skull.
I asked a Japanese visitor what the word for computer is in
Japanese. He said it is "computer" which is spelled out in
the phonetic alphabet.
