I think we now have something pretty convincing and useful which addresses the generic need for "meta-tagging" like . I agree that generalising beyond that is a matter for much more detailed work, but there's a clear and convincing case for introducing the @pattern mechanism to address the meta tagging need. We just need to clarify exactly what that mechanism is and how it relates to the existing @target mechanism. As indicated elsewhere, I think we should be able to do that in time for the next release
